The Food Shop is a deck-building game. In this game, players are set in a world where a war between magic and steam-powered machines has just finished. Each player is playing as the latest owner of a food shop from their families.

Their main task is sooth the public by the power of the food. And as the industrial technology emerges, along with the traditional magic power, player can buy different machines and items from factory and markets. And they would encounter and solve different kinds of events. Interacting with different kind of cards, players compete to win more victory points.

In this project, I was mainly design the game and made rough prototypes for testing and balancing those cards. I also made a little bit art and card UI to reveal the game context.

By buying and building Machine cards, players can gain incomes from producing food.

Item cards mainly enhance players’ ability by their unique effect. Event card usually provide more victory points. Some event cards have a karma effect. By completing event that has a karma, players can get some bonus from completing future events connected to the original one.

The value of each card is calculated on its value/time relation. Each type of cards is revealing a different feeling based on that relation. Most of the Machine cards are mainly feeling as a gradual growth, while the event cards have more gamble feeling because of its karma effect. Market cards are designed to tweak these experience by being used in different contexts or players.
